It takes a strong stomach to watch a show like Black Mirror. We all know that it’s the best thing to watch on Netflix currently. However, there is debate when it comes to Black Mirror episodes ranked.

Black Mirror is an anthology series, and all the episodes differ from one another. However, not all episodes are equal. While none of the episodes are bad, a few can be considered a masterpiece. So eventually, fans seem to like some better than others.

So if you’re confused about the Black Mirror episodes ranked, don’t worry. We are counting down the top 10 best Black Mirror episodes ranked from good to perfect.

Black Mirror Episodes Ranked

Again, there’s seldom any bad episode of Black Mirror, but some are genuinely better than others. We have listed the best among these in our list of Black Mirror Episodes ranked. The section might contain spoilers, so proceed with caution.

10. The Entire History of You (Season 1, Episode 3)

Starting off our list we have “The Entire History of You.” This episode explores themes of memory, trust, and the consequences of living in a world where every moment can be recorded and revisited.

It delves into the negative impacts of excessive surveillance and the potential psychological toll of constantly reliving past experiences. It is definitely one of the best episodes from the first season. Hence, it is a part of our list of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked.

9. Crocodile (Season 4, Episode 3)

Crocodile takes the next spot on our list of best Black Mirror episodes ranked. It’s about a world where insurance companies tap into people’s memories to settle claims. However, things go downhill with a hit-and-run accident.

It explores themes of guilt, morality, and the consequences of one’s actions. Crocodile will make you think about the lengths people go to protect themselves.

8. Shut Up & Dance (Season 3, Episode 3)

Next up we have Shut Up and Dance. This episode revolves around a teenager getting blackmailed by a hacker who recorded him masturbating. What follows is any person’s worst nightmare.

This episode depicts the disturbing steps people are willing to take to hide their secrets to maintain their reputations. It also offers a scary insight into how technology can be used to manipulate and control you.

So it definitely deserves a spot on our list of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked.

7. Black Museum (Season 4, Episode 6)

“Black Museum” explores themes of morality, exploitation, and the potential dangers of technology. It highlights the darker aspects of human nature and the ethical implications of pushing the boundaries of innovation.

You can’t help but feel this is relying on shock for the sake of shock. “Black Museum” can be considered one of the most important episodes of Black Mirror. Apart from the horrors of technological advancements, it also sheds light on racism.

6. Be Right Back (Season 2, Episode 1)

The first episode of season 2 presents us with the weirdest love story we have ever seen. A woman succumbed to grief, and gets a clone of her husband. However, things begin to go downhill slowly.

Be Right Back raises thought-provoking questions about the nature of identity, the boundaries between humans and technology, and the potential consequences of pursuing artificial replication of human beings. It is definitely one of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked.

5. Hated in the Nation (Season 3, Episode 6)

We are halfway through our list of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked and it is time to talk about “Hated in the Nation.” This episode involves rogue robotic bees that become embroiled in a sadistic murder plot.

It’s one of the longest episodes of “Black Mirror,” but the plot folds so neatly, and a twist adds depth to some episodes. Hated in the Nation presents a closer-to-reality story about the power of social media.

It also sheds light on collective responsibility and the potential consequences of our actions in a digitally connected world. Moreover, it highlights the dangers of mob mentality and the negative effects of online anonymity.

4. Nosedive (Season 3, Episode 1)

This story starts in a dystopian era where people rate each other as they interact with each other. It follows a woman who obsesses over social status and desperately seeks to increase her rating.

Many people have related this episode to the social credit system present in China. This fact makes this episode even darker. Moreover, the ending of this episode is extremely satisfying.

3. The National Anthem (Season 1, Episode 1)

We can’t make a list of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked without including the first episode. The “National Anthem” is Black Mirror’s first episode.

The story revolves around the Prime Minister of a nation facing a disturbing dilemma. The kidnappers have made a very strange demand: they have kidnapped a princess from the royal family.

And to have the princess safely released from them, the Prime Minister must have intercourse with a pig on live television. This is one of the most grounded and depressing episodes of Black Mirror.

2. USS Callister (Season 4, Episode 1)

The one where we went full Star-Trek. “USS Callister” is known for its homage to classic science fiction shows like “Star Trek” and for its thought-provoking examination of the dark side of technology and human behavior.

In this episode, Robert Daly creates a virtual world in which he’s starship commander, and he imprisons and abuses virtual clones of his colleagues who annoy him. The fact that this story is told in a morbidly funny yet often terrifying manner makes it one of Black Mirror’s best episodes.

1. San Junipero (Season 3, Episode 4)

This episode is set in a beach town called “San Junipero” and explores the theme of love, memory, and the afterlife. It presents the story of Yorkie and Kelly. Their lives are revolutionized when they visit San Junipero, a fun-loving seaside town.

San Junipero stands out for its emotional depth and optimistic tone, contrasting the typically dark and bleak atmosphere of the series. This is probably the only episode with a genuinely happy ending. It deserves the top spot on my list of Black Mirror episodes ranked.

This concludes our list of the best Black Mirror episodes ranked. Your opinion may differ from this list, but you can still catch all these episodes of Black Mirror alongside the latest season on Netflix.
